Hello and welcome back! I hope you’ve had a good week, and you’re enjoying your weekend so far! Things again have been very crazy around here because we moved into our house this past week and spent the whole week putting together all our new furniture. My sister and I are quickly learning to do everything ourselves, from opening our bank accounts to figuring out how many groceries are necessary and in the price ranges. It’s exciting and scary at the same time but we are lucky to have so many good friends and family around us to support and help
Today I’d like to share with you the third step I feel is best to overcoming Melancholy. As I explained in my previous two blogs I have been struggling with melancholy a lot the last few weeks and questioned, if it is something my sister and I battle when we move back home, how many other people battle it too? So my third step I came to is: stay in touch with people from your abroad life. The reason for this is that staying in touch with people from your abroad life can be a nice refresher of who you were and of the people that you know you’ll always have a home with. Personally I love catching up with old friends, a Skype call or a quick few Whatsapp messages sent can make my day so much better because I know they’re on my mind and I’m on theirs. Moving from a place does not mean all ties need to be cut.
I have found that it comforts me to talk to old friends, because it reminds me that they still care about me and even if we are living two totally different lives, it still matters to one another what is happening with each of us. Having the reminder that people care and that there is another place you can call home can give the strength to get through the hard part of moving and settling.
With this I hope that each of you is able to overcome melancholy, and if not overcome at least find comfort and start your process of overcoming. These things are different for everyone but with these blogs I am hoping to be able to help as many people as I can. This concludes the 3 parts of Melancholy and we’ll go onto my next post which will come out 19 July 2017. I apologise that this blog was a day late, I couldn’t for the life of me get my thoughts on to paper. I hope you enjoy, have a good week, and see you back on Wednesday.
